Community currency platform
Givn is a skill/resource and volunteer platform for communities. Individual efforts are recognized for both sharing and volunteering using a virtual currency called TYP (short for “Thank You Points” & pronounced like “tip”).
Givn tweaks the “mutual credit” accounting model by making non-profit organizations the “Federal Reserve” of the Givn community, maintaining an ever-growing “TYP supply” which represents all the hours volunteered for nonprofits by members through Givn.
I built a functioning prototype web app for Givn to launch an initial pilot to begin to connect the community and nonprofits through the platform. The prototype is built with VueJS, implementing Material UI with Vuetify, and interfaces with a MongoDB/Express/Node backend via GraphQL.
